Holidays in Playa Blanca

Holidays in Playa Blanca are great for both couples and families. And it's easy to see why. Tucked on Lanzarote's sun-drenched southwest tip, this quiet resort is home to a number of top beaches. The white sandy sweep in the heart of town - from which Playa Blanca gets its name - is the proud owner of a coveted Blue Flag, as is neighbouring Playa Dorada beach. And a little further afield you've got the dreamy Papagayo sands where you can get an all over tan!

On the sunbathing front, this place gets a big thumbs up. But what else can you expect on holidays to Playa Blanca? Well, for starters you can hop on a ferry over to Fuerteventura from here. And Lanzarote's famous Timanfaya National Park isn't far away, either.

When it comes to eating out, you can take your pick from the many waterside cafes and restaurants that line Playa Blanca's promenade. If you like seafood, you'll be in your element. Try pan-fried 'sama' fish with salted potatoes called 'papas arugadas' – it's simply delicious.

As this resort has a traditional, relaxed air about it, nightlife in Playa Blanca is nice and low key. Cue long al fresco dinners beneath the stars. Balmy evenings sipping cocktails. And moonlit strolls along the seafront. Sure, there are a handful of disco bars, but generally speaking, this place is wonderfully relaxed.

So, whether it's an all singing, all dancing summer holiday or just a last minute holiday to Playa Blanca, this resort will charm the socks off you.

PLAYA BLANCA RESTAURANTS

Some of our personal favourites include:

El Horno de La Abuela (Grandmother’s Kitchen) is lovely – turn left at the bottom of Calle El Cabozo, walk up and cross over into the big square, go through the square and turn right

Cervantes is one of the few road-side restaurants we recommend – for their outstanding steaks and warm welcome – turn left at the bottom of Calle El Cabozo

Lobos restaurant in The Princess Yaiza Hotel is very elegant and pretty expensive by local standards, The sea view from this restaurant is breathtaking – perfect for a special occasion.

Larni’s restaurant at the Marina is reliable and the          view is lovely.  There are several good restaurants             in the Marina.
